<Introduction>
Thank you for taking the time to read tripmate's privacy policy. We thank you for using our service. We would like to explain the types of information we collect, why we collect it, how we use the information we collect and the controls we have over your information.

Purpose and use for which we collect data

When we collect your data, we do so primarily for the following purposes
Protect you from misuse and abuse
Statistical analysis and improvement of our services
Use as a data source
Unless otherwise specified, we will only collect data from your device.

<Protection against abuse and misuse>
Provide you with support and respond to your requests (including, but not limited to, verifying your identity when you contact us and otherwise responding to your enquiries).
In order to provide a sound service, we will monitor and take appropriate action to counter any illegal activities, fraudulent activities, violations of the Terms of Use or suspicions thereof, both on and off the Platform.

<Other Users>
We may provide information about you to other users, for example when they contact us about you.

<Statistical analysis and improvement of the service>
We use your personal information to analyse the demographics of our users.
We may use your personal information to send you important notifications, such as purchase notifications and changes to our terms of use and policies.
We do not treat log data as personal information or combine it with other personal information, but we may aggregate, analyze, and evaluate such information for purposes such as understanding and improving our services.
Based on your profile, your activity on our service and your preferences, we will show you users with whom you may want to interact cross-culturally and we will show you to other users in the same way.
We may use behavioural and demographic information for targeted advertising and recommendations of products and services from our group or our partners.

Google Analytics (Google Inc.): Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google Inc ("Google"). Google will use the data collected to contextualise and personalise advertising in its own advertising network.
Google Analytics for Firebase (Google Inc.): Google Analytics for Firebase or Firebase Analytics is an analytics service provided by Google Inc. to help you understand how Google uses your data. To understand Google's use of your data, please refer to Google's Partner Policy.
Facebook Ads Conversion Tracking (Facebook, Inc.): Facebook Ads Conversion Tracking is an analytics service provided by Facebook, Inc. that connects data from the Facebook ad network with actions taken on tripmate. It connects data from the Facebook Ads network with actions performed by tripmate.
TestFlight (Apple Inc.): TestFlight is an analytics service provided by Apple Inc.
Firebase Remote Config (Google Inc.): Firebase Remote Config is an A/B testing and configuration service provided by Google Inc.

<Sharing in accordance with legal obligations>
We may disclose your information in the following circumstances
(i) To comply with legal process, such as a court order, subpoena or search, investigation by governmental/judicial authorities or other legal requirements
(ii) to assist in the prevention or detection of crime (in each case in accordance with the provisions of applicable law)
or (iii) to protect the safety of any person

<To exercise our legal rights>
We may also share information in the following circumstances.
(i) If disclosure would reduce our liability in an actual or anticipated lawsuit
(ii) Necessary to protect our legal rights or the legal rights of our users, partners or other interested parties
(iii) To enforce our contractual rights with you
(iv) To investigate, prevent, or take other action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or other criminal activity

<Sharing based on your consent or request>
We may ask for your consent to share your information with third party companies. In such cases, we will always specify the reason for sharing the information.
In all of the above situations, we may use and share non-personal information (i.e., information that does not identify you per se, such as device information in a non-personal format, general demographic or behavioral data, or geolocation information) as well as personal information in a hashed, human-unreadable format. and share it. We may also share this information with other tripmate companies and third party companies (mainly advertising companies) for the purpose of developing and distributing targeted advertising on our services and on third party websites and applications, and to analyse and report on the advertising you see. We may also share this information with other companies belonging to tripmate or third party companies (mainly advertising companies) for the purpose of developing and distributing our products and services and analysing and reporting on the advertising you have viewed. Advertising

Sharing your age, gender and location with advertisers will increase the relevance of the ads you see on tripmate. If you do not wish to share this information, you can turn it off at any time. Please note that this does not mean that all personal data will be used for this purpose. The information and terms of use are set out below.
Some of the services listed below use cookies or mobile advertising identifiers to identify you or use behavioural retargeting techniques. This means that you will be shown adverts that are tailored to your interests and behaviour, including those detected outside of tripmate. For more information, please check the privacy policy of the relevant service.
In addition to the opt-outs provided by the following services, users may opt out of the use of cookies by third party services by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative's opt-out page.
AdMob (Google Inc.): AdMob is an advertising service provided by Google Inc. To understand Google's use of your data, please see Google's Partner Policy .
DoubleClick for Publishers (Google Inc.): DoubleClick for Publishers is an advertising service provided by Google Inc. that allows owners to run advertising campaigns in conjunction with external ad networks. and. To understand Google's use of your data, please refer to Google's Partner Policy. This service uses the "Doubleclick" cookie. This cookie tracks the use of tripmate and user behaviour in relation to the advertising, products and services offered. Users can disable all Doubleclick cookies by clicking on the following google.com/settings/ads/onweb/optout?hl=en.

Information we collect when you use our services

About personal data
Personal data is data that can be used to uniquely identify or contact one person. when you create a tripmate ID, tripmate collects personal data such as email address, gender, age, nationality, native language, your interests, location and content information such as photos and videos. This information will be used to help us improve our service.
When you use tripmate, the information that your mobile phone sends ("log data") is automatically recorded by the server. This log data may include information such as Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device model, tripmate pages visited or clicked, and other statistics. This information may include the date and time of login, functions used, searches, clicks, pages viewed, referring web page addresses, advertisements clicked, etc. and contact with other users (such as users communicated or contacted, date and time of contact, number of messages sent or received, etc.).
Some of the information you agree to provide to us may be considered "special" or "confidential" by some jurisdictions. If you provide us with this type of information, you consent to our use of it.

Location information
As tripmate is based on the concept of cross-cultural exchange between visitors and locals, we use your location information to determine your role as a visitor or local. Therefore, we cannot allow you to use our service without your permission to share your location. tripmate uses a variety of methods, including GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, depending on the service and device you are using.

Registration and authentication
By registering or authenticating, you allow tripmate to securely identify you and provide you with access to the service. Depending on what is described below, a third party may provide registration and authentication services. In this case, tripmate may, with the express consent of the user, access the data stored by these third party services for the purpose of registration or identification.
Facebook Authentication (Facebook, Inc.): Facebook Authentication is a registration and authentication service provided by Facebook, Inc. and connected to the Facebook social network.
Firebase Authentication (Google Inc.): Firebase Authentication is a registration and authentication service provided by Google Inc. To simplify the registration and authentication process, Firebase Authentication can use third party identity providers to store information on the platform.
Google OAuth (Google Inc.): Google OAuth is a registration and authentication service provided by Google Inc. and connected to the Google network.

About hiding, editing or deleting personal data
You can edit, hide and delete your personal data in the 'My profile' settings within the tripmate app. You can also request deletion of your account or request changes to specific profile information via tripmate customer support (mail@tripmate.jp).

Device information
When you access our services, we collect device information from the device you use to do so. Specifically, we collect the following:

IP address, device ID and type, device-specific settings and application settings/characteristics, application crashes, advertising IDs (such as Google's AAID and Apple's IDFA. Both are randomly generated sequences of numbers that can be reset from your device's settings), browser type/version/language, operating system, time zone, identifiers tied to cookies or other technologies that distinguish your device or browser (IMEI/UDID, MAC address, etc.) Information about your hardware and software, such as IMEI/UDID, MAC address, etc.
Information about your wireless/mobile network connection, such as service provider and signal strength.

Protecting your information

tripmate's precautions include administrative, technical and physical measures to protect your personal information from loss, theft or misuse, and to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.
Extensive technical and organisational measures are in place to protect data from potential risks such as unauthorised login or access, unauthorised viewing, modification or distribution, as well as from loss, deletion or misuse.
In order to protect personal data from unauthorised access by third parties during transmission, we use SSL and TLS encryption, where necessary, to protect data transmission. This is a standard encryption procedure for online and mobile services, in particular for the Internet.

About Video Chat
We do not monitor, record, or broadcast video chat sessions. However, we cannot prevent our chat partners from broadcasting live or recorded chat sessions without your permission via a third party web site or service. You should exercise caution when disclosing any other information, including personal information, during a video or chat session.

Infrastructure monitoring
In order to monitor the use and behaviour of the service components, tripmate uses the following services for functionality, performance, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Firebase Crash Reporting (Google Inc.): Firebase Crash Reporting is a monitoring service provided by Google, Inc. to improve app stability and reduce app crashes.
Firebase Performance Monitoring (Google Inc.): Firebase Performance Monitoring is a monitoring service provided by Google, Inc.

Maintaining user information

tripmate will retain the data collected for as long as we need it for legitimate business purposes and for as long as applicable law permits, depending on the nature of the data, the intended use of the data and the user's preferences.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Children's privacy tripmate does not allow anyone under the age of 18 to use our service. If you suspect that another user is under the age of 18, please report it using the reporting system at the top right of the profile screen.

How this policy applies

This privacy policy applies to all services provided by tripmate. It does not apply to services covered by other privacy policies that do not incorporate this privacy policy.
